Managing Active Status
Every analysis in Hinsley has an active or inactive status. Active analyses automatically run Saved Searches on a weekly basis, send email notifications about new findings, and allow full editing. Inactive analyses are read-only and do not run searches or send notifications, but all past content remains accessible for review.
What Changes When an Analysis Is Inactive
Deactivating an analysis has the following effects:
- Saved Searches stop running — No new search results will be fetched. Existing results remain available for review.
- Email notifications stop — No monitoring result emails or research updates will be sent.
- Editing is disabled — The analysis becomes read-only. You cannot modify the topic, add source material, edit scenarios, or update the decomposition.
- AI forecasting is paused — Any AI-generated forecasts on crowdsourced forecasting questions are disabled.
All existing content—documents, scenarios, decompositions, forecasting questions, and written outputs—remains fully viewable. An inactive analysis can be reactivated at any time.
Automatic Deactivation
Hinsley automatically deactivates analyses that have not been accessed for an extended period. The process works in two stages:
- Warning (after 7 days of inactivity) — Hinsley sends an email to all users on the analysis, letting them know the analysis will be deactivated soon. The email includes a link to visit the analysis, which resets the inactivity timer.
- Deactivation (after 9 days of inactivity) — If no one visits the analysis within two days of the warning, Hinsley deactivates it and sends a confirmation email with a link to reactivate.
Any visit to the analysis—viewing search results, checking scenarios, reading documents, or any other interaction—resets the inactivity timer and prevents automatic deactivation.
Toggling Status Manually
You can activate or deactivate an analysis using the toggle switch in two places:
- The analyses list on the home page, in the Active column.
- The header area on the individual analysis page.
Only the original creator of an analysis can change its active status. Collaborators will see the toggle but cannot interact with it.
Subscription Plan Limits
Your subscription plan determines how many analyses you can have active at the same time. If you have reached your plan’s limit, you will need to deactivate another analysis or upgrade your plan before you can activate a new one. If your account downgrades to a lower plan, all active analyses are automatically deactivated to comply with the new limit.
