Create & Share Written Analysis

The Compose & Share section turns your analysis into shareable written products. You can start from an AI-generated draft based on your analysis content, or write from scratch. Finished outputs can be exported to PDF or Word, or published to a public URL for broader distribution.

Creating an Output

Open the Compose & Share tab in the left sidebar and click Create a New Output. You have two options:

  • Generate from a template — Choose a template type and Hinsley will generate a first draft using your analysis content (scenarios, decomposition, source material, and search results). You then edit the draft to refine it.
  • Create a blank output — Start with an empty document and write your own content from scratch.

Template Types

Action Memo

A decision-oriented memo for a specific audience. You provide the key decision being addressed and your initial recommendation, and Hinsley drafts a structured memo with sections for Purpose, Background, Options and Implications, and a Recommendation. Designed for decision-makers who need concise, actionable analysis.

One Page Brief

A concise executive summary that covers your analysis’s key findings in a format designed to fit on a single printed page. Includes an introduction, a summary of scenarios, key drivers and indicators, and an overall assessment. Ideal for quick stakeholder briefings.

Blog Post

A longer-form piece you can customize for a specific audience, tone, and format. When creating a blog post, you can specify the topic focus, target audience, writing style, and length guidelines. Hinsley generates a draft that reflects those preferences.

Decomposition Report

An auto-generated report that presents your decomposition tree—the full hierarchy of drivers and indicators—as a structured document. No additional input is needed; the report is built directly from your current decomposition.

Hinsley Content

A comprehensive export of your entire analysis: research brief, scenarios with likelihoods, decomposition drivers and indicators, forecasting questions with current probabilities, and a table of relevant source material. Useful as a complete snapshot of your analysis at a point in time.

Free Form

A blank document for writing whatever you need. No AI generation is involved—you have full control over the content from the start.

Controlling What Goes into a Draft

When generating a template-based output, you can control which parts of your analysis Hinsley draws on. A prompt context panel lets you include or exclude:

  • Decomposition drivers and indicators
  • Scenarios
  • Recent search results
  • Older search results
  • Source materials

You can also provide additional instructions to guide how Hinsley drafts the content.

Editing

All outputs open in a rich text editor where you can revise the content as needed. Changes are autosaved. You can also edit the output title inline by clicking on it.

Embedding Interactive Elements

Outputs support embedded interactive elements from your analysis. Using the embed buttons at the top of the editor, you can insert:

  • Scenarios — An interactive list of your scenarios with their current likelihood assessments.
  • Decomposition visualizations — Your decomposition rendered as a Builder, Tree, Icicle, or Nested view.
  • Forecasting questions — Individual crowdsourced forecasting questions with their current probability.

Embedded elements render as interactive components in published outputs and as static images in PDF and Word exports.

Exporting

From the actions menu on any output, you can export to PDF or Word format. Exports are generated in the background and available for download once complete.

Publishing

You can publish any output to a public URL hosted by Hinsley. When publishing, you choose a custom URL slug for the output. The published page is accessible to anyone with the link—no login required. You can update the published content at any time, unpublish it, or share it via email and social media using the built-in sharing options.
