Reports and Exports

Reports contain tabular data for a network, account, or analysis. Exports contain formatted analysis content, such as a written product, a decomposition image, or a briefing deck. Both are generated in the background.

Where to Find Reports

  • Network: open Staff > Reports on the network. Network admins can generate reports.
  • Account: open Account admin > Reports. Account admins can generate reports.
  • Analysis: open Outputs > Reports in the analysis sidebar. Collaborators can generate reports.

The catalog lists the report types available in that location. Some types depend on features enabled for the account or analysis.

Generate a Report

  1. Choose a report type and click Generate to open its drawer.
  2. Set the date range, where offered, and the filters for that type.
  3. Click Generate report. The new row shows its status while the file is prepared.
  4. When the status is Completed, download the CSV or Excel file from the Reports list.

Available filters depend on the report. Network reports may offer challenges, topics, questions, contributor status, invitation state, or inclusion of deleted comments and rationales. Account reports offer user or analysis status, invitation state, or a selection of analyses. Analysis reports may offer questions, forecaster types, aggregations, scenario sets, source types, relevance, or archived sources.

Date ranges include the last 7, 30, or 90 days, the last 12 months, all time, and custom dates. Read the hint beneath the date selector: the range can select when records were created, when forecasts were made, or when questions were scored. Contributors and Challenges still list every matching contributor or challenge; their date range limits forecast counts. AI usage covers the whole months touched by the selected range. Key indicators is a current snapshot with no date range.

You can leave the page while a report runs. A ready email links back to Reports when email delivery is permitted by your settings. Up to three reports can be queued or processing at once for you in the same network, account, or analysis. If a report fails, you can request it again.

Reuse Filters

Open a report row's actions menu and choose Reuse filters. The drawer opens with its saved filters so you can edit them and generate a new report. A reused date range keeps the original dates as a custom range; select a relative range again if you want it to end today. AI usage reports are the exception. They cover whole calendar months, so a reused month-to-date range extends through today or the end of its original month, whichever comes first.

Downloads, Visibility, and Expiry

  • CSV and Excel: reports with up to 50,000 data rows offer both formats. Above 50,000 rows, only CSV is available.
  • Visibility: only the person who requested a report can see or download it in Hinsley. They must still have access to its network, account, or analysis.
  • Expiry: report files expire 90 days after completion. The expired row remains in the list, and Reuse filters can generate a fresh report from the data then available.

Analysis Exports

Open Outputs > Exports on an analysis to see its export catalog and generated files. Collaborators can create exports; people with view access to the analysis can download completed exports. This list is shared across the analysis.

  • Briefing (PowerPoint): compares scenario likelihoods and driver forecasts over a selected period. It requires a scenario set with AI likelihoods.
  • Decomposition (PNG): an image of a decomposition as a tree, icicle, or nested chart.
  • Product (PDF or Word): a written product from Compose & Share.
  • Red Team (PDF or Word): a one-shot red team critique.
  • Research Summary (PDF or Word): a research summary already generated for the analysis.

Click Export beside a type, choose the source and any format or style options in the drawer, then submit. Types without an eligible source explain what you need to create first. Download the file from the list when it completes.
