Inviting Collaborators
Every analysis in Hinsley can be shared with other users so you can work together. Collaborators have full access to the analysis - they can view and edit all content, run research, manage scenarios and forecasts, and invite additional collaborators. The Collaborators page, accessible from the analysis sidebar under “Manage,” is where you add and manage collaborators.
Inviting by Email
To invite someone, enter their email address in the invitation form on the Collaborators page and click Invite. Hinsley sends an email to the invitee with a link to accept the invitation.
- If the invitee already has a Hinsley account, they can accept the invitation from their invitations page after logging in.
- If the invitee does not have an account, the email directs them to sign up first. After registering, they can accept the invitation.
You can invite multiple people by sending one invitation at a time. Each invitation is tracked independently.
Accepting an Invitation
When you receive an invitation email, click the link to view the invitation. Accepting it immediately grants you access to the analysis. The person who invited you is notified when you accept.
What Collaborators Can Do
Collaborators have the same level of access as the analysis creator. There is no distinction between “viewer” and “editor” roles - every collaborator can:
- View all analysis content: research, decompositions, scenarios, forecasts, and outputs
- Edit and create content within the analysis
- Run research workflows and manage saved searches
- Invite additional collaborators
- Participate in crowdsourcing campaigns
- Export data and generate written products
Managing Pending Invitations
The Collaborators page shows both active collaborators and pending invitations in separate sections.
For pending invitations, you can:
- Resend an invitation if the original email was missed
- Withdraw an invitation by deleting it before it is accepted
Invitees can also decline an invitation by deleting it from their own invitations page.
Removing a Collaborator
To remove someone from an analysis, go to the Collaborators page, find the person in the active collaborators list, and click Remove. A confirmation dialog appears before the removal is finalized. Once removed, the user loses access to the analysis immediately. Any related pending invitations are also removed.
Leaving an Analysis
If you are a collaborator and want to leave an analysis, you can remove yourself from the Collaborators page. This cannot be undone through the interface - you would need to be re-invited to regain access.
Email Preferences
Each collaborator can configure their notification preferences for the analysis. You can opt in or out of receiving email notifications when new monitoring results are found, with frequency options for daily or weekly digests.
